Kings News - President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo has just departed from Malaysia and is now bound for Brunei Darussalam. Shortly before his departure, he went to give a gentle reminder to Indonesian workers there to remain vigilant of any potential threat placed upon them and for each worker to take care of him/herself throughout their duty period. Jokowi also made a promise that he would have these workers picked up should there be any problem that makes them uncomfortable there.
"But don't continuously ask for me to pick you guys up. If there is a problem, a real one, I will come and pick you up myself. But if you guys report a problem just so that you can have me picked you up using a Hercules aircraft then I don’t want to," Jokowi said as he met with some of the Indonesians at the Indonesian embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as quoted from Setkab.go.id, Saturday (07/02/2015).
"I just want to give an assurance to my Indonesian people, to let them know that we are always ready in case they need us. We are just one call away back in Indonesia. Whatever problem occurs, I’ll make sure I come to pick them up," he said.
He thinks that there are still 1000 Indonesian workers lingered with problems and he hopes that in the future there will be no more of Indonesian workers encountering problems in trying to fulfil their duties there.
"I will try to sort out the problems in Malaysia so that it does not exacerbate. That is why I will come back later this month or next month to pick up some of the Indonesian workers who have problems in Malaysia. There are at least 1000 of them," Jokowi continued.
During the meeting with many of the Indonesian workers in Malaysia, Jokowi was also asked regarding the polemic between the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission and Indonesian police that has dominated the headline of local media and some of international media.(tgh)
